Some old IPs do not provide the hardware feature register. On these IPs, this register is read 0x00000000.
In old driver version, this feature was handled but a regression came with the commit f10a6a3541b4 ("stmmac: rework get_hw_feature function"). Indeed, this commit removes the return value in dma->get_hw_feature(). This return value was used to indicate the validity of retrieved information and used later on in stmmac_hw_init() to override priv->plat data if this hardware feature were valid.
This patch restores the return code in ->get_hw_feature() in order to indicate the hardware feature validity and override priv->plat data only if this hardware feature is valid.

net: stmmac: Do not enable RX FIFO overflow interrupts
The RX FIFO overflows when the system is not able to process all received packets and they start accumulating (first in the DMA queue in memory, then in the FIFO). An interrupt is then raised for each overflowing packet and handled in stmmac_interrupt(). This is counter-productive, since it brings the system (or more likely, one CPU core) to its knees to process the FIFO overflow interrupts.
stmmac_interrupt() handles overflow interrupts by writing the rx tail ptr into the corresponding hardware register (according to the MAC spec, this has the effect of restarting the MAC DMA). However, without freeing any rx descriptors, the DMA stops right away, and another overflow interrupt is raised as the FIFO overflows again. Since the DMA is already restarted at the end of stmmac_rx_refill() after freeing descriptors, disabling FIFO overflow interrupts and the corresponding handling code has no side effect, and eliminates the interrupt storm when the RX FIFO overflows.

For interrupt mode INTM=0, TX/RX transfer complete will trigger signal not only on sbd_perch_[tx|rx]_intr_o (Transmit/Receive Per Channel) but also on the sbd_intr_o (Common).
As for multi-MSI implementation, setting interrupt mode INTM=1 is more efficient as each TX intr and RX intr (TI/RI) will be handled by TX/RX ISR without the need of calling the common MAC ISR.
Updated the TX/RX NORMAL interrupts status checking process as the NIS status bit is not asserted for any RI/TI events for INTM=1.

The hardware cross-timestamp result is made available to applications through the PTP_SYS_OFFSET_PRECISE ioctl which calls stmmac_getcrosststamp().
Device time is stored in the MAC Auxiliary register. The 64-bit System time (ART timestamp) is stored in registers that are only addressable by using MDIO space.

The address width of the controller can be read from hardware feature registers much like on XGMAC. Add support for parsing the ADDR64 field so that the DMA mask can be set accordingly.
This avoids getting swiotlb involved for DMA on Tegra186 and later.
Also make sure that the upper 32 bits of the DMA address are written to the DMA descriptors when enhanced addressing mode is used. Similarily, for each channel, the upper 32 bits of the DMA descriptor ring's base address also need to be programmed to make sure the correct memory can be fetched when the DMA descriptor ring is located beyond the 32-bit boundary.

net: stmmac: Fix descriptors address being in > 32 bits address space
Commit a993db88d17d ("net: stmmac: Enable support for > 32 Bits addressing in XGMAC"), introduced support for > 32 bits addressing in XGMAC but the conversion of descriptors to dma_addr_t was left out.
As some devices assing coherent memory in regions > 32 bits we need to set lower and upper value of descriptors address when initializing DMA channels.
Luckly, this was working for me because I was assigning CMA to < 4GB address space for performance reasons.
