Use g_new() & friends where that makes obvious sense
g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer, for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t. Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch more type errors.
This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form sizeof(T).
Patch created mechanically with:

Merge remote-tracking branch 'remotes/dgibson/tags/ppc-for-4.1-20190612' into staging ppc patch queue 2019-06-12 Next pull request against qemu-4.1. The big thing here is adding support for hot plug of P2P bridges, and PCI devices under P2P bridges on the "pseries" machine (which doesn't use SHPC). Other than that there's just a handful of fixes and small enhancements. # gpg: Signature made Wed 12 Jun 2019 06:47:56 BST # gpg: using RSA key 75F46586AE61A66CC44E87DC6C38CACA20D9B392 # gpg: Good signature from "David Gibson <david@gibson.dropbear.id.au>" [full] # gpg: aka "David Gibson (Red Hat) <dgibson@redhat.com>" [full] # gpg: aka "David Gibson (ozlabs.org) <dgibson@ozlabs.org>" [full] # gpg: aka "David Gibson (kernel.org) <dwg@kernel.org>" [unknown] # Primary key fingerprint: 75F4 6586 AE61 A66C C44E 87DC 6C38 CACA 20D9 B392 * remotes/dgibson/tags/ppc-for-4.1-20190612: ppc/xive: Make XIVE generate the proper interrupt types ppc/pnv: activate the "dumpdtb" option on the powernv machine target/ppc: Use tcg_gen_gvec_bitsel spapr: Allow hot plug/unplug of PCI bridges and devices under PCI bridges spapr: Direct all PCI hotplug to host bridge, rather than P2P bridge spapr: Don't use bus number for building DRC ids spapr: Clean up DRC index construction spapr: Clean up spapr_drc_populate_dt() spapr: Clean up dt creation for PCI buses spapr: Clean up device tree construction for PCI devices spapr: Clean up device node name generation for PCI devices target/ppc: Fix lxvw4x, lxvh8x and lxvb16x spapr_pci: Improve error message Signed-off-by: Peter Maydell <peter.maydell@linaro.org>

Merge remote-tracking branch 'mst/tags/for_upstream' into staging pci, virtio, vhost: fixes A bunch of fixes that missed the release. Most notably we are reverting shpc back to enabled by default state as guests uses that as an indicator that hotplug is supported (even though it's unused). Unfortunately we can't fix this on the stable branch since that would break migration. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Merge remote-tracking branch 'dgibson/tags/ppc-for-2.10-20170511' into staging ppc patch queue for 2017-05-11 This pull request supersedes the one from yesterday (20170510), fixing an important style bug in one patch, and adding an extra couple of simple patches. Highlights of this set: * Some fixes for POWER9 * TCG support for POWER9 radix MMU * VGA rom for Mac machine types * Fixes for the XICS interrupt controller * MTTCG support for ppc targets As suggested by Paolo, I've tried to add the Docker tests to my standard pre-pull-request tests. I haven't wholly suceeded; this has been tested with some of the Docker images, but others I haven't managed due to problems that as best I can tell are not due to problems in this patch series. I'll continue working on this for future pull requests. Specifically, 'travis', 'fedora', and 'centos6' seem to work. 'min-glib' jammed while gtesting moxie, which seems very unlikely to be caused by this series. 'ubuntu', 'debian' and 'debian-bootstrap' hit build errors almost immediately that look like problems with the container configuration, and 'debian-*-cross' hit build errors later on which also look like missing dependencies from the container. # gpg: Signature made Thu 11 May 2017 05:13:46 AM BST # gpg: using RSA key 0x6C38CACA20D9B392 # gpg: Good signature from "David Gibson <david@gibson.dropbear.id.au>" # gpg: aka "David Gibson (kernel.org) <dwg@kernel.org>" # gpg: aka "David Gibson (Red Hat) <dgibson@redhat.com>" # gpg: aka "David Gibson (ozlabs.org) <dgibson@ozlabs.org>" # Primary key fingerprint: 75F4 6586 AE61 A66C C44E 87DC 6C38 CACA 20D9 B392 * dgibson/tags/ppc-for-2.10-20170511: (23 commits) target/ppc: Avoid printing wrong aliases in CPU help text pnv: Fix build failures on some host platforms target/ppc: Allow workarounds for POWER9 DD1 spapr: Don't accidentally advertise HTM support on POWER9 ppc: xics: fix compilation with CentOS 6 target/ppc: Enable RADIX mmu mode for pseries TCG guest target/ppc: Implement ISA V3.00 radix page fault handler target/ppc: Change tlbie invalid fields for POWER9 support target/ppc: Update tlbie to check privilege level based on GTSE target/ppc: Set UPRT and GTSE on all cpus in H_REGISTER_PROCESS_TABLE ppc: add qemu_vga.ndrv ROM to fw_cfg interface for NewWorld Macs ppc: add qemu_vga.ndrv ROM to fw_cfg interface for OldWorld Macs Add QemuMacDrivers qemu_vga.ndrv revision d4e7d7a built as submodule Add QemuMacDrivers as submodule ppc/xics: preserve P and Q bits for KVM IRQs ppc/xics: Fix stale irq->status bits after get target/ppc: do not reset reserve_addr in exec_enter tcg: enable MTTCG by default for PPC64 on x86 cpus: Fix CPU unplug for MTTCG target/ppc: Generate fence operations ... util: Use g_malloc/g_free in envlist.c Change malloc/strdup/free to g_malloc/g_strdup/g_free in util/envlist.c. Remove NULL checks for pointers returned from g_malloc and g_strdup as they exit in case of failure. Also, update calls to envlist_create to reflect this. Free array and array contents returned by envlist_to_environ using g_free in bsd-user/main.c and linux-user/main.c. Update comments to reflect change in semantics. Merge remote-tracking branch 'remotes/borntraeger/tags/s390x-20150218' into staging Features for s390x/kvm 1. guest reIPL changes (Fan Zhang) Implements subcode 5 and 6 of diag 0x308. This allows to use /sys/firmware/[re]ipl/ccw/* and the chreipl and lsreipl tools in Linux. In addition to the normal "change the disk" this also allows to switch from booting an external kernel into rebooting from a disk. 2. Memory page table walking (Thomas Huth) Fix several page table walking functions, used in several places like gdb server and instruction handling. Also use these functions in several I/O related functions. # gpg: Signature made Wed Feb 18 09:13:22 2015 GMT using RSA key ID B5A61C7C # gpg: Good signature from "Christian Borntraeger (IBM) <borntraeger@de.ibm.com>" * remotes/borntraeger/tags/s390x-20150218: (29 commits) s390x/helper: Remove s390_cpu_physical_memory_map s390x/pci: Rework memory access in zpci instruction s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in TPI instruction s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in CHSC instruction s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in STCRW instruction s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in TSCH instruction s390x/ioinst: Set condition code in ioinst_handle_tsch() handler s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in STSCH instruction s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in SSCH instruction s390x/ioinst: Rework memory access in MSCH instruction s390x/css: Make schib parameter of css_do_msch const s390x/mmu: Add function for accessing guest memory s390x/kvm: Add function for injecting pgm access exceptions s390x/mmu: Clean up mmu_translate_asc() s390x/mmu: Check bit 52 in page table entry s390x/mmu: Renaming related to the ASCE confusion s390x/mmu: Add support for read-only regions s390x/mmu: Fix the exception codes for illegal table entries s390x/mmu: Fix exception types when checking the ASCEs s390x/mmu: Fix translation exception code in lowcore ...
