atm: solos-pci: Fix potential deadlock on &tx_queue_lock
[ Upstream commit 15319a4e8ee4b098118591c6ccbd17237f841613 ]
As &card->tx_queue_lock is acquired under softirq context along the following call chain from solos_bh(), other acquisition of the same lock inside process context should disable at least bh to avoid double lock.
<deadlock #2> pclose() --> spin_lock(&card->tx_queue_lock) <interrupt> --> solos_bh() --> fpga_tx() --> spin_lock(&card->tx_queue_lock)
This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock.
To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch uses spin_lock_bh() on &card->tx_queue_lock under process context code consistently to prevent the possible deadlock scenario.

treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of:
kmalloc(a * b, gfp)
with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp)
as well as handling cases of:
kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp)
with:
kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)
as it's slightly less ugly than:
kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)
This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:
kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)
though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.
Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant.
The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc().
The Coccinelle script used for this was:
// Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@

networking: make skb_push & __skb_push return void pointers
It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *, and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not.
Make these functions return void * and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the following spatch:
@@ expression SKB, LEN; typedef u8; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; @@ - *(fn(SKB, LEN)) + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN)

@@ expression SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; @@ - fn(SKB, LEN)[0] + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN)
Note that the last part there converts from push(...)[0] to the more idiomatic *(u8 *)push(...).

networking: make skb_put & friends return void pointers
It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *, and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not.
Make these functions (skb_put, __skb_put and pskb_put) return void * and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the following spatch:
@@ expression SKB, LEN; typedef u8; identifier fn = { skb_put, __skb_put }; @@ - *(fn(SKB, LEN)) + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN)
@@ expression E, SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_put, __skb_put }; type T; @@ - E = ((T *)(fn(SKB, LEN))) + E = fn(SKB, LEN)
which actually doesn't cover pskb_put since there are only three users overall.
A handful of stragglers were converted manually, notably a macro in drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_bsdcomp.c and, oddly enough, one of the many instances in net/bluetooth/hci_sock.c. In the former file, I also had to fix one whitespace problem spatch introduced.

solos-pci: Increase headroom on received packets
A comment in include/linux/skbuff.h says that:
* Various parts of the networking layer expect at least 32 bytes of * headroom, you should not reduce this.
This was demonstrated by a panic when handling fragmented IPv6 packets: http://marc.info/?l=linux-netdev&m=144236093519172&w=2
It's not entirely clear if that comment is still valid — and if it is, perhaps netif_rx() ought to be enforcing it with a warning.
But either way, it is rather stupid from a performance point of view for us to be receiving packets into a buffer which doesn't have enough room to prepend an Ethernet header — it means that *every* incoming packet is going to be need to be reallocated. So let's fix that.

hlist: drop the node parameter from iterators
I'm not sure why, but the hlist for each entry iterators were conceived
list_for_each_entry(pos, head, member)
The hlist ones were greedy and wanted an extra parameter:
hlist_for_each_entry(tpos, pos, head, member)
Why did they need an extra pos parameter? I'm not quite sure. Not only they don't really need it, it also prevents the iterator from looking exactly like the list iterator, which is unfortunate.
Besides the semantic patch, there was some manual work required:
- Fix up the actual hlist iterators in linux/list.h - Fix up the declaration of other iterators based on the hlist ones. - A very small amount of places were using the 'node' parameter, this was modified to use 'obj->member' instead. - Coccinelle didn't handle the hlist_for_each_entry_safe iterator properly, so those had to be fixed up manually.
The semantic patch which is mostly the work of Peter Senna Tschudin is here:
@@ iterator name hlist_for_each_entry, hlist_for_each_entry_continue, hlist_for_each_entry_from, hlist_for_each_entry_rcu, hlist_for_each_entry_rcu_bh, hlist_for_each_entry_continue_rcu_bh, for_each_busy_worker, ax25_uid_for_each, ax25_for_each, inet_bind_bucket_for_each, sctp_for_each_hentry, sk_for_each, sk_for_each_rcu, sk_for_each_from, sk_for_each_safe, sk_for_each_bound, hlist_for_each_entry_safe, hlist_for_each_entry_continue_rcu, nr_neigh_for_each, nr_neigh_for_each_safe, nr_node_for_each, nr_node_for_each_safe, for_each_gfn_indirect_valid_sp, for_each_gfn_sp, for_each_host;

Drivers: atm: remove __dev* attributes.
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed.
This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers.
Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand.
