openrisc: mm: convert to GENERIC_IOREMAP
By taking GENERIC_IOREMAP method, the generic generic_ioremap_prot(), generic_iounmap(), and their generic wrapper ioremap_prot(), ioremap() and iounmap() are all visible and available to arch. Arch needs to provide wrapper functions to override the generic versions if there's arch specific handling in its ioremap_prot(), ioremap() or iounmap(). This change will simplify implementation by removing duplicated code with generic_ioremap_prot() and generic_iounmap(), and has the equivalent functioality as before.
For openrisc, the current ioremap() and iounmap() are the same as generic version. After taking GENERIC_IOREMAP way, the old ioremap() and iounmap() can be completely removed.

openrisc: mm: remove unneeded early ioremap code
Under arch/openrisc, there isn't any place where ioremap() is called. It means that there isn't early ioremap handling needed in openrisc, So the early ioremap handling code in ioremap() of arch/openrisc/mm/ioremap.c is unnecessary and can be removed.
And also remove the special handling in iounmap() since no page is got from fixmap pool along with early ioremap code removing in ioremap().

openrisc: io: Define iounmap argument as volatile
When OpenRISC enables PCI it allows for more drivers to be compiled resulting in exposing the following with -Werror.
drivers/video/fbdev/riva/fbdev.c: In function 'rivafb_probe': drivers/video/fbdev/riva/fbdev.c:2062:42: error: passing argument 1 of 'iounmap' discards 'volatile' qualifier from pointer target type

Most architectures define the iounmap argument to be volatile. To fix this issue we do the same for OpenRISC. This patch must go before PCI is enabled on OpenRISC to avoid any compile failures.

openrisc: io: Define iounmap argument as volatile
[ Upstream commit 52e0ea900202d23843daee8f7089817e81dd3dd7 ]
When OpenRISC enables PCI it allows for more drivers to be compiled resulting in exposing the following with -Werror.
drivers/video/fbdev/riva/fbdev.c: In function 'rivafb_probe': drivers/video/fbdev/riva/fbdev.c:2062:42: error: passing argument 1 of 'iounmap' discards 'volatile' qualifier from pointer target type
drivers/video/fbdev/nvidia/nvidia.c: In function 'nvidiafb_probe': drivers/video/fbdev/nvidia/nvidia.c:1414:20: error: passing argument 1 of 'iounmap' discards 'volatile' qualifier from pointer target type
drivers/scsi/aic7xxx/aic7xxx_osm.c: In function 'ahc_platform_free': drivers/scsi/aic7xxx/aic7xxx_osm.c:1231:41: error: passing argument 1 of 'iounmap' discards 'volatile' qualifier from pointer target type
Most architectures define the iounmap argument to be volatile. To fix this issue we do the same for OpenRISC. This patch must go before PCI is enabled on OpenRISC to avoid any compile failures.

Add check for the return value of memblock_alloc*() functions and call panic() in case of error. The panic message repeats the one used by panicing memblock allocators with adjustment of parameters to include only relevant ones.
The replacement was mostly automated with semantic patches like the one below with manual massaging of format strings.

openrisc: simplify pte_alloc_one_kernel()
The pte_alloc_one_kernel() function allocates a page using __get_free_page(GFP_KERNEL) when mm initialization is complete and memblock_phys_alloc() on the earlier stages. The physical address of the page allocated with memblock_phys_alloc() is converted to the virtual address and in the both cases the allocated page is cleared using clear_page().
The code is simplified by replacing __get_free_page() with get_zeroed_page() and by replacing memblock_phys_alloc() with memblock_alloc().

mm: treewide: remove unused address argument from pte_alloc functions
Patch series "Add support for fast mremap".
This series speeds up the mremap(2) syscall by copying page tables at the PMD level even for non-THP systems. There is concern that the extra 'address' argument that mremap passes to pte_alloc may do something subtle architecture related in the future that may make the scheme not work. Also we find that there is no point in passing the 'address' to pte_alloc since its unused. This patch therefore removes this argument tree-wide resulting in a nice negative diff as well. Also ensuring along the way that the enabled architectures do not do anything funky with the 'address' argument that goes unnoticed by the optimization.
Build and boot tested on x86-64. Build tested on arm64. The config enablement patch for arm64 will be posted in the future after more testing.
The changes were obtained by applying the following Coccinelle script. (thanks Julia for answering all Coccinelle questions!). Following fix ups were done manually: * Removal of address argument from pte_fragment_alloc * Removal of pte_alloc_one_fast definitions from m68k and microblaze.
// Options: --include-headers --no-includes // Note: I split the 'identifier fn' line, so if you are manually // running it, please unsplit it so it runs for you.

memblock: rename memblock_alloc{_nid,_try_nid} to memblock_phys_alloc*
Make it explicit that the caller gets a physical address rather than a virtual one.
This will also allow using meblock_alloc prefix for memblock allocations returning virtual address, which is done in the following patches.
The conversion is done using the following semantic patch:
@@ expression e1, e2, e3; @@ ( - memblock_alloc(e1, e2) + memblock_phys_alloc(e1, e2) | - memblock_alloc_nid(e1, e2, e3) + memblock_phys_alloc_nid(e1, e2, e3) | - memblock_alloc_try_nid(e1, e2, e3) + memblock_phys_alloc_try_nid(e1, e2, e3) )

Noticed this when building with allyesconfig. Got build failures due to iounmap and __ioremap symbols missing. This patch exports them so modules can use them. This is inline with other architectures.
