Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai: "The major changes in the core API side in this cycle are the still on-going ASoC componentization works. Other than that, only few small changes such as 20bit PCM format support are found.
Meanwhile the rest majority of changes are for ASoC drivers:
- Large cleanups of some of the TI CODEC drivers
- Continued work on Intel ASoC stuff for new quirks, ACPI GPIO handling, Kconfigs and lots of cleanups
- Refactoring of the Freescale SSI driver, as preliminary work for the upcoming changes
- Work on ST DFSDM driver, including the required IIO patches
- New drivers for Allwinner A83T, Maxim MAX89373, SocioNext UiniPhier EVEA Tempo Semiconductor TSCS42xx and TI PCM816x, TAS5722 and TAS6424 devices
- Removal of dead codes for SN95031 and board drivers
Last but not least, a few HD-audio and USB-audio quirks are included as usual, too"

ASoC: dmic: Fix check of return value from read of 'num-channels'
Commit 7fb59e940f62 ("ASoC: codecs: dmic: Make number of channels configurable") introduces an optional property to the device tree to specify the number of DMIC channels. dmic_codec_probe() uses of_property_read_u32() to read the DT value, and expects a return value of -ENOENT when the property does not exist. This expectation is incorrect, the actual value returned in this case is -EINVAL (see of_find_property_value_of_size(), which is called under the hood). Check for -EINVAL instead.

ASoC: Updates for v4.16
Some more updates for v4.16, the big things here are the ST DFSDM driver and the IIO patches required to support that and even more in the neverending series of code quality improvements for x86, including Pierre's work to improve the Kconfig. The unused SN95031 driver and associated board support are also removed, they haven't been buildable for a considerable time without anyone noticing.

ASoC: codecs: dmic: Make number of channels configurable
The DMIC DAI driver specifies a number of 1 to 8 channels for each DAI. The actual number of mics can currently not be configured in the device tree or audio glue, but is derived from the min/max channels of the CPU and codec DAI. A typical CPU DAI has two or more channels, in consequence a single mic is treated as a stereo/multi channel device, even though only one channel carries audio data.
This change adds the option to specify the number of used DMIC channels in the device tree. When specified this value overwrites the default channels_max value of 8 in the snd_soc_dai_driver struct of the codec.

Merge tag 'sound-4.14-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound
Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai: "We have touched quite a lot of files but with fewer changes at this cycle; as you can see, most of changes are trivial fixes, especially constification patches.
Among the massive attacks by constification gangs, we had a few core changes (mostly for ASoC core), as well the fixes and the updates by major vendors.
Some highlights:
ALSA core:
- Fix possible races in control API user-TLV codes
- Small cleanup of PCM core
ASoC:
- Continued work for componentization; still half-baked, but we're certainly progressing
- Use of devres for jack detection GPIOs, rather as a cleanup
- Jack detection support for Qualcomm MSM8916
- Support for Allwinner H3, Cirrus Logic CS43130, Intel Kabylake systems with RT5663, Realtek RT274, TI TLV320AIC32x6 and Wolfson WM8523"
