Linux-2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!

treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array() The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kmalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kmalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; ALSA: constify snd_pcm_ops structures Check for snd_pcm_ops structures that are only stored in the ops field of a snd_soc_platform_driver structure or passed as the third argument to snd_pcm_set_ops. The corresponding field or parameter is declared const, so snd_pcm_ops structures that have this property can be declared as const also. The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @r disable optional_qualifier@ identifier i; position p; @@ static struct snd_pcm_ops i@p = { ... }; @ok1@ identifier r.i; struct snd_soc_platform_driver e; position p; @@ e.ops = &i@p; @ok2@ identifier r.i; expression e1, e2; position p; @@ snd_pcm_set_ops(e1, e2, &i@p) @bad@ position p != {r.p,ok1.p,ok2.p}; identifier r.i; struct snd_pcm_ops e; @@ e@i@p @depends on !bad disable optional_qualifier@ identifier r.i; @@ static +const struct snd_pcm_ops i = { ... }; // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <Julia.Lawall@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

ALSA: via82xx-modem: Simplify PM callbacks This is a similar cleanup like the commit [3db084fd0af5: ALSA: fm801: PCI core handles power state for us]. Since pci_set_power_state(), pci_save_state() and pci_restore_state() are already done in the PCI core side, so we don't need to it doubly. Also, pci_enable_device(), pci_disable_device() and pci_set_master() calls in PM callbacks are superfluous nowadays, too, so get rid of them as well. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

ALSA: PCI: Remove superfluous pci_set_drvdata(pci, NULL) at remove As drvdata is cleared to NULL at probe failure or at removal by the driver core, we don't have to call pci_set_drvdata(pci, NULL) any longer in each driver. The only remaining pci_set_drvdata(NULL) is in azx_firmware_cb() in hda_intel.c. Since this function itself releases the card instance, we need to clear drvdata here as well, so that it won't be released doubly in the remove callback. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
